When I See A Feather (Brittany’s Poem)
By Nicholas Wilkinson
Emily said,
“Hope is a thing with feathers”,
but what else could she know?
About things perched deep within
that blossom, pulse, and grow
For when I see a feather
my heart, it skips a beat
A message sent just for me
so perfectly replete
To dance or glide and flutter,
upon a mighty wind
And to sow the seeds of hope
much to the world’s chagrin
The shadows of yesterday
find grace, light, joy and bliss
No longer trapped and spellbound
by Serpent’s wicked hiss
For when I see a feather
it’s carried in my heart
Taking root it feeds my soul
nourishment for my art
Whispering ever sweetly
a message kind and true
And when I see a feather
I’ll know it came from you
